8th Grade Computers

Focus Areas from the North Carolina Standard Course of Study:
  • Responsible and safe use of online resources
  • Using Copyright and Fair Use Guidelines
  • Using spreadsheets and databases relevant to classroom assignments
  • Choosing charts/tables or graphs to best represent data
  • Conducting online research and evaluating the information found
  • Using word processing/desktop publishing for classroom assignments/projects
  • Selecting and using a variety of technological tools to develop projects in content areas

All 8th grade students will be given two opportunities to take the TEST OF COMPUTER SKILLS which is a graduation requirement in North Carolina.  The test will be administered online this year.  See http://www.ncpublicschools.org/accountability/testing/computerskills/ for more information.

7th Grade Computers

Students will be introduced to application software.

 

6th Grade Keyboarding

Students will learn the letter keyboard, the  figure/symbol keyboard, and the basic service keys by using the touch method.
