Course Outline

8th grade Language Arts is taught using an integrated approach to learning in which the areas of writing, reading and speaking are taught through a variety of learning methods.

My focus this year is to enhance each student's reading and writing ability.  I plan to do this through many hours of reading both during and outside of class time, vocabulary instruction, grammar, and various projects.

Homework

Students are also required to read independently each quarter.  I will suggest titles, but the books are student- selected.

Students are expected to be prepared for class.

Students are expected to complete assignments on time.

Students are expected to adhere to the DTMS code of conduct outlined in the handbook.

Late work will NOT be accepted!

Understand that your child must read often in order to read well.
