Course Outline

This year we will be studying all aspects of life in Europe, Russia, and South America.  We will embark on a journey full of surprise and adventure.  Come on board, grab your passport, and get ready!!

1st Quarter-Geography, Intro to Cultures of South America, Europe, and Russia, and Ancient Greece/Ancient Rome (Project-Newspaper Articles)

2nd Quarter-Western/Eastern European Countries, Imperial Russia, Industrialization, People and Religion of South America, and Ethnic Groups of Russia and Europe. (Project-Travel Poster of Western/Eastern European Country)

 

Homework

Students will receive homework at least 2-3 times per week.  All homework will be placed on the homework board inside the classroom. Homework is designed to reinforce the concept that is being taught in class.  LATE HOMEWORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!! (See sixth grade procedures)

Homework in social studies will be emailed to you on a daily basis.  If you have not been receiving emails from me, please email me at:dtms6ss@yahoo.com so I can add you to my list.

Expectations are very high for all students in social studies.  All students will:
Be Kind
Be Respectful
Be Prepared 
Follow Directions

Helpful Tips

Study all notes, handouts and study guides.
Participate in Learn More. (every Wednesday afternoon)
Listen and follow directions the first time they are given.
Don't be a PROCRASTINATOR!
Have parents check email on a daily bases for updates, happenings in social studies, etc.
Have parents sign agenda daily.
READ all material that comes home in the Thursday packet.
